Custom Chart Types

NT,

It has recently come to my attention that, in order to gain edit access from the NT platform to Custom chart types, Some users have begun locating their custom chart type files in either the Indicator and/or strategy folders instead of the Type folder.

NT does seem to find these chart type files and load them properly when booting up.

I think others can attest to the fact that working with these files when located in the Type folder is a royal pain in the backside.

Is there any reason to not to relocate my custom chart type files to the Indicator or Strategy folders for ease of use???

It would be really nice to be able to use NT's GUI when editing these files.

RJay, thank for your suggestion - there's unfortunately no workaround - those are 'types' and hence they need to be copied into the bin > custom > type folder to make them recognizable / usable.

Could you tell me specifically why moving these files from the Type folder to another folder would be a bad idea??

RJay, those are not indicators nor strategies, but types hence they are installed in the bin > custom > type folder. If you want edit them as indicators, please take for example a look at NT7's HeikenAshi indicator and override the plot method to achieve the custom plotting you desire.
