    MBT unvailable for trading

    NT Support,

    Could I please have some clarification on the OnConnection status method and its operation with broker connections / order status?

    MBT conduct maintenance on their servers at 10pm GMT. However, it doesn’t appear to drop the connection from the MBT / NT. Whilst I haven’t tried it, I suspect if an order is placed at this time it might be rejected and shut down the strategy (assuming normal order handling is switched on). Would the use of OnConnection() handling this? I.e. checking to see if the connection is up? If not, what would be the suggested method for checking for this prior to placing orders around that time? Or in general checking to see if an order will be rejected prior to placing it?

    Hello,

    This would be called each time NinjaTrader connection status changes.

    I.E. You see a change in the connection state on the bottom left hand corner of the control center.

    Your saying you dont get a change where when MBT has maintenance correct?

      Unless I’m mistaken the connection status does not appear to change, no. I will watch out for it this evening again, but that’s what I’ve seen. Therefore, I’m thinking that the OnConnection event will not fire in that instance.

        Hello,

        Correct, no change here then the OnConnection() event will not fire. You can verify this in the log.

        If this is the case and this does not occur the only recommendation I can give you is to add in a time filter so that your strategy does not trade during this time.

          Thanks very much for that.

          Again, I will watch it tonight to check the behaviour.

          I would suggest that we need to add this to the development requirements. To determine if an order is going to be rejected prior to it being submitted appears to be a little lacking in functionality if we are going to achieve a robust automated trading model.

            I’ve now watched the behaviour this evening. As I thought the connection stayed live, yet the dialogue came up staying that trading was not allowed.

            Again, I think we need a better solution than timed stop trading as today for example the time has changed due to the GMT vs EST change. We are not on day light saving and you guys are.

            I'll email you a PDF which shows the dialogue and the connection status still live to the support email address.

            Are you able give me a the dev request number?

                Heard back from development. There is unfortunately no events thrown here and also no steps to code for this in your strategy other then a time filter not to trade during these times Unfortunately.
