    Programmatic differentiation of positions in different accounts?

    Hi-

    Is it possible to programmatically determine the positions of identical instruments in different accounts?

    That is, if I'm testing two trading strategies (all unmanaged), can I determine what the position size is in my "SimA" account, and what the position size is in my "SimB" account, for the same instrument?

    Hello,

    Thanks for your note.

    You are actually unable to find position information from the account at all in NinjaTrader. Since NinjaTrader does not use this apporach. Each strategy has its own strategy position. The reason we did it this way is so that you can do what you mentioned since each strategy has its own position that can be managed independantly. Even if they are on the same instrument.

    FrStrategy Position vs. Account Position:

    Let me know if I can be of further assistance.

      Oh - I wasn't aware that positions were managed on the strategy level.

      So, if I do a comparison such as:

      Code:
      if (Position.MarketPosition == MarketPosition.Long)
      NT is only checking the MarketPosition of the current strategy?

      If so, that's all well and good; it's functionally equivalent to what I was looking for.

        Hello,

        Yes your understanding is correct. Strategy only check.

        Let me know if I can be of further assistance.
