    Import Failed: Importing Script

I tried to Import a strategy which I had developded for me - On trying to import, I get:
“Import Failed. The Ninjascript Archive file may contain duplicate method names that already exist on your PC or there is a required file missing on either your PC or in the input archive.”

I sent all of the indicators for the Strategy to the consultant to integrate into the strategy. I still have the original indicators on my PC when I try to install the strategy. On importing, I tried not repalcing and replacing the scripts when asked but still get the above message.
Any thoughts on how I could resolve this?

    thanks,
    Ryan

Ryan, you will most likely need to delete the indicators (at least temporarily) until the strategy is imported. Please contact the consultant for additional details.

      I have a similar problem...

Umm...I am getting the same error with version 7. I'm trying to import indicators (only) that run fine in version 6.5, for some reason I cannot import them into version 7 and then the version 7 install becomes corrupted and I have to uninstall/re-install it afterwards...what could be the problem?

        Hello Burga1,

That message is generic and could mean a few different things. To identify the specific reason why it failed to import, please follow the steps on this page:

For me, all worked out well when I uninstalled all of the indicators and then installed the strategy. All the indicators are there now.
Thanks Ausit - that worked out perfectly.

            thanks,

Correct Loukas, they would not be migrated automatically. In the guide you checked into there's specific subsection for this process to run through -

I am trying to import a simple shared custom indicator that has been written, compiled, and works fine in NT7. I am getting the following error when trying to import.

On trying to import, I get:
“Import Failed. The Ninjascript Archive file may contain duplicate method names that already exist on your PC or there is a required file missing on either your PC or in the input archive.”

We are using the same version of NT7..

                  Any advise please?

                  Thanks.

aligator, to find out what is causing this issue I would manually install the indicator cs into the bin > custom > indicator folder and then compile your script. The issue(s) should then be listed in the bottom section of the editor for you.

Hello, I am having the same error. I have carefully made sure no names are duplicated and if I manually install the indicator cs into the bin > custom > indicator folder and then compile the script I find no errors.

Is there anything else I can try?

Also If I export the indicator without CliSecure / Protect it will import fine on the other machine.

                      Any Ideas?
                      Thanks

                        Update

I was able to get the CiSecure export to work by putting a new copy of ninja on a new machine, then exporting my indicator.

                          Hello westsider,

                          Thank you for your post.

This can occur when multiple assemblies are installed on your PC that you export the indicators from. Make sure to export from a clean installation as you have done.

                            Same problem here...

I don't have any indicators installed.
I exported my strategies and indicators to a Cli-Secured assembly, and when I try to import, I get an "Import Failed. The NinjaScript Archive File may contain duplicate..."

                            Re fresh installation:
                            • Does Ninja register user assemblies to the GAC?
                            • If so, can I clean it manually?
                            • if not, which files do I need to remove before exporting from my machine?

                            Thanks,
                            Boaz

                              Hello boaza,

                              Thank you for your post.

Are you importing the protected assembly into a machine that already has the indicators in their open-source format (.cs files)?

There is no registration that needs to be cleared.
