    Help... Can't compile anything anymore

Anytime I try to compile an indicator, I get the following error that occurs in about 15 different standard indicators. I don't know how to fix this.
'NinjaTrader.Indicator.Sum' is a 'type' but is used like a '\variable'

jmflukeii, when did this issue appear for you? Did you upgrade to a more recent NT version or would you have installed any 3rd party addon for example?

I accidentally clicked the wrong zip file and tried to import an nt6.5 indicator about an hour ago and then went back to programming something and noticed this.

Could be the case them, I would suggest to remove the old legacy script and then try recompiling please.

              jmflukeiii,

I am responding on behalf of Bertrand.

Please follow the instructions below to see where the errors are coming from after compiling the indicator. This will allow you to debug the indicator/strategy or remove it from your PC. If you are wondering why you receive an error when compiling only one indicator, it is because NinjaTrader compiles all indicators and strategies- not just one.

              Open NinjaTrader
              • From the Control Center select the Tools menu--> select the Edit NinjaScript menu item--> select Indicator
              • Select an indicator and double click on it.
              • A new window will appear and you will need to right click in the window and select Compile to compile the indicators.
              • At the bottom of the window a new section will appear where you can find the error locations.
              • From there you have the option to remove the indicator or debug it. Indicators are located in My Documents / NinjaTrader 7 / bin / custom / indicator.
              • If you are unsure as to what the error is indicating, please send me a screenshot of the error with the name and description fields clearly readable.

To post a screenshot press Alt + PRINT SCREEN to take a screen shot of the selected window. Then go to Start--> Accessories--> Paint, and press CRTL + V to paste the image. Lastly, save as a jpeg file and post the file to this thread as an attachment.

Please let me know if I may assist further.

Thank you for the help. Seeing as the error is in ten or so system indicators, I can't delete them. I looked at the code but am unsure what sum( is.
                Thank you

                  jmflukeiii,

Please go to the editor, right click and select "References", ensure that it looks like the attached image. If not, you can click "Add" and navigate to these locations and add the references. The System.Web.services.Dll isn't required, however sometimes fixes a few issues.

If you are unable to resolve it this way, or require help doing so, please submit a request to Support at NinjaTrader dot com with ATTN : Adam in the message body along with a reference to Ticket : 594887.

Please let me know if I may assist further.

All I was missing was the one you said wasn't required. I added it anyway, but still no luck.

                      Jmflukeiii,

Please submit a request to Support at ninjatrader dot com. It would probably be easiest to resolve this with a remote support session.

We look forward to helping you resolve your issue.

Thanks for the response. I sent the request a couple hours ago.

What is sum() supposed to do? Does it add whatever is in it? Did an indicator I tried to import redefine it? How do I redefine it again to do what it is supposed to do?

SUM now shows up as an indicator in the indicator list when trying to add an indicator from a chart. However, its not in the indicator folder nor can I see it when I click on "Edit NScript" from the Tools menu.

                          jmflukeiii,

We're not sure if you were able to get this resolved yet. We typically respond to our email requests within about 15 minutes so you should have gotten a response by now.

It's possible the built in @Sum indicator was overwritten with a different version. If this is what's happened, you're welcome to save the attached file to your Documents\NinjaTrader 7\bin\custom\indicator directory and then attempt to compile.

Let us know if this does not resolve for you.
