    Alternate range bars for NT7

I need to have range bars which are constructed like Linnsoft's IRT where no phantom bars exist. Not just at session start, but intraday.

I found the link to alternate range bar for NT 6.5 in the file share section, but am unable to locate for NT7.

Below is what LVS looked like on NT this morning, the other is IRT. I need it to look like IRT's charts.

    coolmoss,

There is no way to change the built in range bars to work like this. You could look into this Range Bars without reset... available in our file sharing section, contributed by member farang.

      Hi Ryan,

      Thanks for your help.

The script you referred me to actually is the opposite of what I need. I think this is what I need:

But I don't know if this will work in NT7. I understand it's possible to code ones own bar type. Can you refer me to any thread or documentation that would get me started in that direction?

      Thanks

EDIT: just tried this 6.5 script and it won't import to NT7

Search for gapless range bars here or at bigmikes

I think I got this wrong. I'll have to dig around later.

NT's are gapless and you want gaps.

I appreciate the help, but having a hard time communicating I guess. I do NOT want gapless, I want gaps. I don't want any bars or even parts of bars to plot if no trades actually occurred. The "alternate range bar" which I posted the link to seems like (based on reading relevant threads) what I need. However, it's only for 6.5.

As I attempted to convert it, I realised Al Slane did the conversion already some time ago:

              Please take a look:

You could look into making your own bar type or working with the NT 6.5-style range bars. Unfortunately custom bar types are beyond our scope of support but you could take a look at existing types here:

@RyanM - it may be a good idea for you guys to zip it and post it in the download section as suggested in the thread I linked (after some testing probably) as it is quite hard to find among all the historical posts

Thanks for the spot and recommendation, Greg. Will see about posting it to the file sharing section.

Thanks much for the reference. I imported and tried it out. It's closer, but not quite right. But, fortunately I know Al and can contact him for further advice.
