I put your formula in my spreadsheet comparing my calculations and your method.

Yours is a little more simpler.

I set up some proportions based on what was reported by NT, which had a few more calculations.

On my sample, 1390.9868884520 to 1393.00, bars 6382 to 6399, I'm off by .003 in rounding at the final bar ( 1392.9970910472). Your totals exactly to 1393.00.

I was kind of surprised NT didn't calculate this and make a ValueAtLine or something for the current 'bar', like with "endY" for Horizontal Lines.

There is an Alert option which may do what you want without programming.

Check out this recent webinar that goes over it:

Hi NinjaTrader, Would be nice if you could load a chart template demonstrating equidistance bars on multi-time-frame chart. Your first webinar you said that were improvements.. Also, when demonstrating charts, I would like to see what ruler tool is capable now. BTW I like very much the way Alerts are implemented on NT8. Regards, Agreed....... alerts are excellent.............also the ability to save draw objects as a template will be very nice......so if you draw a solid trend line you can change it to …

Yes, the ability to trigger alerts when the price or an indicator crosses a manually drawn line has been added to NinjaTrader 8.

              Thank you Chelsea an Sledge!!

I have watched the webinar now and between what I could see there and the wording that you used, it sounds like it can only place an order when it *crosses* the drawn line. Will it be possible to submit the order when the data series *closes* beyond the line?

That's what one of the options is.

                  Hello jg123,

Yes, you can detect a cross above, cross below, less than, less than or equal to, greater than, greater than or equal to, not equal, and equal.

                    Thanks Chelsea.

I apologize for asking the same question with different wording, but I am just still not quite clear. I appreciate you showing all of the option but I am still not clear if one can say "if the close is greater than" or "if the close is less than or equal to" or "if the close is not equal to" etc.

At this point, it still seems like it might just be "if the price crosses" or "if the price is greater than" or "if the price is not equal to" etc.

Thank you again for your help

                      Hello jg123,

For the alerts, you can take one object and use any of the comparison operators to compare this to another object.

This is very similar to how this works in the condition builder that is part of the Strategy Wizard.

Yes, you can trigger an alert when a bar closes greater than a drawn line.
