    Repair or Reload Instrument

    Hi there,

I was trying to create a new symbol and mistakenly changed the some settings to my YM symbol in the instrument manager.

How do I reload it from like it is new? Re-install NT perhaps?

    Hi ij001,

    Thank you for posting.

You can reset the instruments to get the YM back to the defaults.

To reset your instruments please: go to the Tools menu, select the Options menu item, select the Data tab, and then click on 'Reset Instruments'.

Once done you will need to restart NinjaTrader for the changes to take affect.

Let me know if I can be of further assistance.

What is the best way to delete historical data?

To go to instrument manager and click on each contract and click delete?

The reason I ask is until today I was using IB as my data provider. Now I signed up with barchart.com and I wanted to use their data and I have made the switch mid-day. I did the above deletions but it all looks the same.

      Thx

        ij001,

You do not want to delete contract instruments as this deletes the instrument itself and not the data.

I would like you to reset your instruments -

To reset your instruments please: go to the Tools menu, select the Options menu item, select the Data tab, and then click on 'Reset Instruments'.

You can use the Historical Data Manager to delete the contracts and data.

Additionally, you can go to (My) Documents -> NinjaTrader 7 -> db
Delete the Cache, Minute, Daily, and Tick folders.
Restart NinjaTrader, and these folders will be recreated but will not contain any data.
