Forex commission with IB

Hi Ninjas,

An important configuration is the right forex commission table in the simulator and broker. For the case working with IB, and concretely for the case of EURUSD, they have this commission table:

A) 0.2 of a basis point ( 0.0001 ) X Trade Value in USD. Example for a million of EURUSD:
0.2*0.0001*1000000*1.3676 = 27.35 USD per Order

B) A minimum of 2 USD per order

So I've tried to configure this in NT but so far, I see a simple table where one can put a commission x unit, so my question: Is there any other way to set this table correctly ? As you must understand this is vital for reliable backtest results

Hi Pstrusi,

It sounds like you would want to set up a tiered commission for your forex.
This will allow you to have at least 1 contract be minimum 2$ and then any other remaining contracts be the price that you are setting per contract.

Let me explain the confusion. When you bur or sell EURUSD with IB, they will charge you with a commission calculated in USD$ that is calculated in my earlier example; therefore if you want to have a very close total commissions in your backtest, you must set in the Tier-table the commission for quantity of EURUSD X its price. So in practical terms I have to put in that table an "estimated" of 0.0000272 X unit of EURUSD, because 0.000020 X 1.36=0.0000272. This commission will vary according the price of EURUSD.

So far I can adjust my backtest to this but I hope NT consider in a future upgrade to amply these fields of commissions

This is not possible with NinjaTrader has you have outlined.
