chart trader is disabled but still cant run strategy

i am trying to run a strategy on a chart but it says "strategy- disabled if chart trader is enabled " and chart trader is disabled already

i have tried
enabling then disables a few times
crossed the chart out and re opened

but still not working
how to i fix this ?

Have you tried to create a new chart with NOTHING on it? Does this work?

what do you mean with "nothing on it"
do you mean no data on it (blank window) : i dont know how to do that
or nothing as in drawings and tags: i opened a brand new chart with only data

btw when i open the log it writes "message : automated trading disabled" and "category; default"

I only meant with no indicators.... which it sounds like you have done... so it's still an issue.

You're probably going to need to send the log and trace file to NT support.

This is a full NT?... like not stripped down "NT Direct" or whatever it is called?

Oh yeah - has it ever worked before?

What happens if you try the default strategies - SampleMACrossover - same error?

1)im using a straight out of the box NT no modifications
2)yes it has been working perfectly fine for the last few days
3)i cant even try any strategy, btw no errors occur it just dosent let me access the strategy button on top of the chart its grayed out(also when i rightclick and try access strategy), when i hover my mouse on top of it, a little box appears saying "strategy- disabled if chart trader is enabled "
4) it works fine on strategy analyzer just not on the chart

was not connect to market data

I had assumed you were connected to Market Replay...

Are you connected to a data feed?

The "$" toolbar button is always greyed out until you are connected
to a live brokerage or market data vendor. You can also run a strategy
using the Market Replay or Simulated Data Feed connection.

The point is, until you have a green connection showing in the lower
left of your Control Center,

1. The "$" toolbar button is greyed out
2. Right click menu option "Strategies..." is greyed out.

The tooltip mesage "Strategy- Disabled if Chart Trader is enabled" is the
normal and expected help message displayed by NinjaTrader -- when
the "$" button is greyed out.

When the "$" button is available the tooltip message changes to "Strategies".

[Tooltip messages are just helpful little tidbits of text that are displayed
briefly when you hover over the toolbar button. Don't be confused, the
only purpose is to show a brief reminder of the button's purpose.]

Are you connected but still having issues?

Just to be clear, this is not strange at all.

If you download Historical data you can backtest your strategy in the Strategy Analyzer without having an active data feed connection.

But Historical data is not the same as Market Replay data.

If you download Market Replay data, then you must connect to Market Replay to actually use that data.

Market Replay data, which admittedly is of an historical nature, but it is absolutely not the same as Historical data.

Very important, don't confuse NinjaTrader's use of these two terms.
The two types of data are different, downloaded differently, stored different, etc.

Market Replay Data
Downloaded explicitly only
Saved to folder db\data
Requires connection to Market Replay to access
Accessed only via running a chart
Supports chart trading via manual trading and strategies
Ignored by Strategy Analyzer, even when connected to Market Reply

Historical Data
Downloaded implicitly or explicitly
Saved to folder db\(day|minute|tick)
Requires no connection to access
Accessed via running a chart, but chart stays static
Used by a chart to build historical candlesticks
Not usable directly or indirectly for manual trading on a chart
Accessed via running Strategy Analyzer
Used by Strategy Analyzer for backtesting
Not usable directly or indirectly for running a strategy on a chart

it always auto connects but this time for some reason it didn't so i completely forgot about my connection status
