I get text but the chart scale goes into negative territory and becomes of no use.

Hello,
I pasted your code in and it works for me. See the attached screen shot.
By negative do you mean the right margin area of the chart?
You can either right click the chart>Properties, and in crease the right side margin field.
You can also increase the "0" or fourth DrawText() parameter you have to shift the drawing leftward.DenNinjaTrader Customer Service
