    Study Guides

I started doing some programming in the late 60s and early 70s. Obviously, things have changed. I really enjoy doing the programming,
but I am having trouble finding a good resource document to get
me started with C++ and the Ninja applications.

Can anyone tell me how an out of date programmer can get started
    with new coding?

    rtj4201,

NinjaTrader is done in C#. You can try starting out in the Strategy Wizard and then press the View Code button to see what kind of code is generated. There are a lot of reference samples on the forums as well.

Is there one book that you would refer that is written very simply.

Unfortunately I would not know of a specific book to recommend.

          Learning the C# Language

I would certaintly have a look at Teach Yourself The C# Language in 21 days. I have the 2004 edition which I have found to be excellent.

I am going to try some code development. I bought the Sam's Teach yourself in 21 days. So far, I am encouraged, as the book is quite clear and simplistic.

I was going to use Sharpdevelop for my editor. When I went to the site to download it there were several options. Which one would I use to be
                consistent with NT coding?

                Frameworks 2.0, 3.0 and 3.5
                built for .NET Framework 2.0
                built for .NET Framework 1.1

NT6.5 is coded in .NET 2.0.

However, we do NOT support/recommend any other editor than the built in NinjaScript editor. Reason: the NT editor performs some checks and code amendments which are required to get your NinjaScript file working properly. You would be on your own if you used any other editor.

Please see the Help Guide section under NinjaScript. There are about 6 indicator development tutorials.

It is a bit hard to follow the guides online. Can I get a pdf version of the guides? That way I can easily look thru and search for what I want?

Unfortunately there is no PDF version available. However, there is a "Serach" option available in the help guide.
