Plot names not updating in data box after changing indicator script

I have an on-going issue with my custom indicators where I want to change the displayed name of a plot but it will not change in the data box.

I use the search and replace function to remove all traces of the old name, including in the properties, hidden text etc. and yet the data box still shows the old name which no longer exists in any of my code?!

I have closed and restarted NT, started from a fresh workspace and chart and still cannot get the indicator to reflect the change in my script.

All other changes in my code update just fine, it is only the plot names displayed in the data box that refuse to update.

Previously I have had to export my indicator, delete it from my computer and then re-import it. This is the only way the displayed plot names will update.

    Please help. Thx

motownlucas, is there anyway you could upload an indicator demonstrating the issue so I could look into the code? As long as you recompile the code changes in and readd a fresh instance of such changes I don't see a reason why it should be persisted. Did you try cleaning out previously used chart templates as well here?

    Thanks

I didn't delete any chart templates, but I did start from a new workspace and new chart with no template applied.

I'd rather post my indicator publicly, but I could email it to you?

If I save the script with a new name it works fine.

I will send the files shortly. There will be multiple as it references other custom indicators.

Most likely it will show the updated names correctly for you since you are importing it fresh. The one I just changed that does not update for me is "TrendHigh5BP" which I changed to "LongEntry."

Maybe try changing it to something else and see if it updates for you?

To anyone who may be reading this thread:

We have found the root cause to this issue. If you right click in the indicators settings dialog and then "Set Default For <Indicator Name>" it creates an indicator template. This template includes the plot display names and does not get updated when the indicator script is recompiled. Because of this any changes you make to a plot name will not show up until you go and manually delete the indicator template file, or edit the xml to reflect your changes.

You will also need to remove and reapply any existing instances of your indicator, and rebuild any chart templates that use it.

I have run into this problem and was wondering if someone can tell me where to find the Indicator Template file to delete.

                      regards,

                        For my Win7 machine it's: C:\Users\username\Documents\NinjaTrader 7\templates\Indicator
