    DataSeries access question

    The obvious way to accumulate a value in DataSeries ds is:

    ds.Set( ds[1] + <new value>)

    The problem is initialization -- ds[1] will not be valid the first time. How do I check whether or not ds[1] will be valid? I tried ds.ContainsValue(1), but that gets an "object reference not set" error. I do not see a ds.Length property.

    Do I really have to keep my own Boolean flag, rather than checking something about the DataSeries itself?

    Thanks,
    EV

    EV, correct there's no Length property, but a Count that would give you the # of elements in your series. So you could run your cumulation only if there's x elements present.

      Code:
      if (CurrentBar > 0)  ds.Set( ds[1] + <new value>);

        Thanks for your suggestions. After a good night's sleep I found the problem -- a simple typo that did compile.

        Even so, this forum was helpful -- I found the typo when preparing a reply showing what I was doing. Forced me to take another close look, and fresh eyes found the problem.
