How to set the number of bars for a new Bars object

Folks,

I'm new to Ninja Trader (but a long time software developer). I'm trying to add a new Bars object to an indicator using the function Add(). However I don't see any way to specify how many bars to use or what range of dates to include for the object. How does Ninja Trader decides how many bars will be available in the new Bars object? Can this be controlled by the programmer?

Hi Juan, welcome to our forums - your primary series would dictate the range / amout of bars to use, currently there's no supported way to set this programmatically for your script's series, we do have this on our list of feedback for future consideration though.

Thanks so much Bertrand for the quick reply. In the link you suggested, they mention that you can set the number of bars for the 'primary' data series... however it was not very clear to me how it is done... can you please provide more details. If you can set the data range in the program for the primary data series, this may actually help solve my problem at least partially.

Sure thing Juan, when you create your chart or change the Data Series settings, you can also select to load the data based on bars instead of days (first entry in the (righthand) Data section of your Data Series dialog box)
