Recognizing the first call of Initialize()

    Hi,

I have an indicator, which reads an xml file to get its definitions, that are required to define things like additional timeframes. This data can't be read in OnStartup(), but is required Initialize().

The challenge is that Initialize() is called 3-4 time before OnStartUp(), so this increase the time my indicator is loading.

This Indicator must work for both Chart and Market Analyzer (for Chart, the ChartControl is not null once per the set, but for MA, its always null.

Is there anyway, to filter these calls, and identify one of them?

    Hello,

    Thank you for the question.

I don't believe there would be any way around this in NT7 if you require using Initialize, the Initialize state has no way for you to determine if it was the first, second or third time Initialize has been called.

NT7 really has no options for this, NT8 would have a much more robust State system in place so going forward this would likely be possible. For the time being, because you require initialize it would likely be the only option.

I look forward to being of further assistance.
