    Continuous Futures Charts

    Hello.

Is there anyway to plot continuous futures charts under NT? The eSignal symbol for the continuous ER chart is AB #F. I hope I'm not limited to daily bars of specific contracts. Its tough to see the trend.

    Regards,
    R. C.

Try choosing an expiry date of ##-## in NinjaTrader.

      Thanks

      Yes, ##-### works good.

Can this be used (##-##) so I don't need to update contracts each 1/4?
Or is it only for replay?

You shouldn't need to update with the ##-##. It depends on your data provider. If you are not using TradeStation as data you should be fine.

I have tried it on Zenfire and my dome is dead. Seems to only work with ES 09-08 or 12-08 contracts.

              Hi,

Try merging 2 individual contracts into one continuous one.

Instructions on how to do this can be found here:

                continues contract and chart trader?

                Hi,

can I trade a continues contract with chart trader. E.g. show chart for YM ##-## and NinjaTrader finds the correct contract (YM 09-08 till thursday and YM 12-08 from friday) for the broker connection if I place a order?

Data is eSignal / Broker IB (if this matters).

Or do I have to merge the YM ##-## to YM 12-08 to use the chart trader (and have a longer chart history)?

Just wondering . I have saved several months of IB ER2 mini data . Could I use
the Merge option to go to the TF 12-08 new mini ?

I believe this is possible, just give it a shot.

Does not seem to work . Get message that No Day , No Minute or Tick data
available for "To" instrument . Oh well . Tried 3 months back of ER2 data down
to 1 month of ER2 data . Must have to be the same symbol .

That's since you do need to have some data in the "TO" instrument. Load data from TF and you should be able to merge after that.

Not sure I follow . I have 2 days of IB real time saved data on TF 12-08 . Dosen't that mean there is some data loaded already for this instrument ?
But , trying to merge the last 3 months of ER2 saved data gives the message
                          mentioned before .

The "To" insturment during the merge process which should be the "TF" does not have any tick, minute or daily historical data on your PC for merge to date. Please ensure there is some data on the "To" date and the day after for TF.

I think this is correct and I have a couple days of real time snap shot type data collected on the TF 12-08 contract . Maybe I need more days or I have
to have a Tick , minute and daily chart open to collect specific types of data ?
