Auto-Connect on Start-up

Forgive me if this is an obvious question, but upon NT startup, is there a way to automatically connect to one of my Account Connections, like Interactive Brokers?

I looked up this topic on the forum, and it seems as if this has been requested for quite some time, so it will be great when you guys can implement.

I usually have to restart IB overnight as they rollover, but I can test with keeping the connection open. Not to mention the idea if you trade currencies, and you start in the middle of the night this option will be very useful.

im using a program called MacroExpress which opens and closes NT when im asleep. this solves the broker servers re-setting problem. ME only costs $50. hope this can help someone else.

but what about connecting to the account?

I can get NT to start automatically in the middle of the night using scheduled tasks which will launch NT, and I have a kill script which can kill the process as well. But once NT is up and running I still need to manually connect to my account at IB, otherwise my order will not flow.

Can ME perform that step as well? I checked out the website and it seems that it will allow you to record key strokes, so I suppose I would be able to mimic the account connection task as well.

The freeware program auto hot key can do all this. Auto-connect on start-up is such a simple feature thats been requested a million times, so I would imagine it would be included in NT7, but I guess we'll have to wait and see.

yes MacroExpress closes and opens NT and also then connects to broker. it does this by recording mouse movements. i also close NT using "TsKill ninjatrader" in the run box, and i let macroexpress record these key strokes. also i open NT by getting ME to run a small WSH script which opens NT and then maximizes the window, so then ME is ready to connect to broker with NT program window maximized for sure. reason i do this is that if you just click on NT exe icon in start menu, sometimes when open NT it comes up as mininized. but normally when you open NT it max's the window too, but in 2% of times it does not. hope this helps someone else. good trading!
