    ZigZag indicator on current bar

    Hi,

So I've noticed that the ZigZag indicator doesn't continue and show up until the current bar. Is there anyway to change the properties of the indicator to show the trend change and also make sure the indicator is plotted on the current bar?

    Attaching some photos.

    Hello Ph0enixa27,

What is the Calculate property set to?

    Is this real-time or historical?

Is TickReplay enabled on the chart?

        Hello Ph0enixa27,

This screenshot appears to be for NinjaTrader 7. Your forum thread is in the NinjaTrader 8 section of the forums.

I am moving your post to the NinjaTrader 7 section of the forums.

You have CalculateOnBarClose set to true. When true the indicator will only update when the bar closes and will not update in real-time.

Below is a public link to the help guide. Please see the CalculateOnBarClose property in the 'How to edit an indicator's parameters' section.

          Hi,

Still doesn't seem to be updating. Is it because this is in the demo version? Or do I have to change the code?

              Hello Ph0enixa27,

              Thank you for your patience.

Zig Zag lines will only update upon the price movement between a swing high and a swing low exceeding the Deviation Value. By filtering minor price movements, the indicator makes trends easier to spot in all time frames. You could go into the code and plot the currentZigZagHigh and the currentZigZagLow values as they would update in realtime but a Zig Zag line is not confirmed until and new high or low is made and thus those values do not technically represent a Zig Zag until that occurs.

You can find information on Zig Zag at the following publicly available link: https://www.investopedia.com/terms/z..._indicator.asp

Please let me know if you have any questions.

                Hi,

I've attached three images in my first post. Could you let me know why in the first one the ZigZag indicator seems to be plotting on a more realtime basis compared to the second image? In both charts, new highs were made.

                  Hello Ph0enixa27,

                  Thank you for your response.

Your Deviation Value is 2 and your Deviation Type is Percent according to your post with the settings for the Zig Zag. That means the value must break 200% of the last swing high or low. Price is not shown in your screenshots nor are the instruments so I can only make a generalized analysis of those screenshots.

Please let me know if you have any questions.
