Remove all instruments in default list

Is there a quick way to delete all of the instruments in the default list

    1) without having to manually remove them one by one, and
    2) without deleting/renaming the database file?

There is no way to remove all instruments from an instrument list other than the ways you've mentioned.

As always thanks for the prompt and appropriate response.

Is that also the case with NT8? Or is there a way to do it in that version?

Basically I'd like to be able to clear the default instrument list while retaining data like account history and ATM templates. I understand that in NT7 that information is stored within the database file along with the instrument list...so in NT7 deleting file that to clear the default instrument list would also wipe out account history and the ATM templates (and more?).

I understand that in NT8, ATM strategy templates are stored separately and would not be affected upon deleting the database. Is there anything else that would be affected deleting an NT7 database file, but not an NT8 database file?

It is possible to quickly remove/delete instruments from an instrument list in NinjaTrader 8, however, the concept of 'default instrument list' and how instrument lists are utilized in NinjaTrader 8 is fundamentally different in NinjaTrader 8. You are not limited to using any instrument list for instrument drop down lists in NinjaTrader 8.

Deleting NinjaTrader 7's database file will remove the following:
        • ATM Strategy templates
        • Session templates
        • Instrument Lists / Custom Instruments
        • historical trade execution data
        • saved Strategy Analyzer backtest results
You're correct in that ATM's are not part of the NinjaTrader 8 database file.

In general, I would not recommend deleting your database file unless instructed to do so specifically by NinjaTrader Platform Support staff to troubleshoot or solve a specific symptom.
