Forced disconnects with TT at 10:00am GMT

Hello all,

i noticed that with my TT connection i suffer a dis-
connection at exactly the same time (10:00am GMT)
day by day.

Playing with the system clock and different time zones
i could circle the problem down to exactly this time,
and as NinjaTrader is the only application having this
regularly disconnection i wanted to ask whether this is a
feature (daily reset) or bug. Its definitely not the TT
server as this one is not affected by my local system clock.

Has someone else noticed this kind of behaviour?

Hello,

It sounds like it is the TT server being reset. Did you check with them?

Unfortunately NinjaTrader does not dictate when a connection is lost. It operates like a radio receiver in that it receives a signal from your broker and then displays/reports these signals back to you the trader. When a connection is lost, it is the broker's API that determines this and reports this to NinjaTrader which in turn reports this back to the trader.
The common problems that contribute to this are:
- ISP issues
- hardware firewall issues changing IP addresses frequently
- Dynamic ISP address switching the address frequently intraday. Usually this happens once a week but you may want to check with your ISP. If they do change daily, a static IP address may work.
- With Windows XP SP2, if you have more than 10 open TCPIP socket connections open (10 programs making connections through the internet) windows will randomly shut down some connections
- Broker servers having problems

Ben,

it has nothing to do with the TT server,
its simply affected by the LOCAL(!) system
clock time (as i already described).

So for example when i connect now (xx:yy GMT),
and set the time back or ahead to 11:59am GMT
(just to reproduce, it also happens just with
the time reaching this mark in normal way) local
time, it will definitely disconnect at 12:00pm GMT
local time (which is xx:yy+1 GMT real time), so it
can have nothing to do with the TT server nor
my router nor anything else outside NinjaTrader
because all other programs (and also feeds)
don't show this kind of disconnect and operate
properly. Also the used IP is valid till 2038
(ipconfig /all), so shouldn't be the problem

I'm using V6.5.1000.6 and also had this problem
with V6.5.1000.5 (don't know if it persisted
before...).

Please try it yourself, maybe its the 12:00pm-
noon-jump in Ninja which creates it headaches...
