    NT8 Frozen

    What can I do when the NT8 software freezes up and I cannot do anything with the software.

    Already tried restarting PC and that does nothing.

      Thank you for your post.


      So we can further diagnose your system, please start NinjaTrader in Safe Mode.

      Safe Mode will prevent NinjaTrader from:
      • Loading workspaces.
      • Connecting on start-up.
      • Loading custom assemblies.
      • Getting instrument updates from the server.

      To enable safe mode, please use the following steps:
      • Exit NinjaTrader.
      • Hold the CONTROL key and double click the NinjaTrader icon.
      • Keep the CONTROL key held down until you see the Control Center.
      • You can verify you are in safe mode by going to Help -> About.
      Please let me know if you're able to open the platform in Safe Mode.

        Was able to open in safe mode, NT8 also gave this message as well in a pop-up dialogue box.

          Hello rwilliam,

          Thank you for your note.

          Please follow the steps listed below to uninstall and reinstall NinjaTrader.
          • If possible, copy your license key from the Control Center > Help > License Key.
          • Close all running applications.
          • Uninstall NinjaTrader within Windows Control Panel.
          • Navigate to C:\ > Program File (x86) > Delete the 'NinjaTrader 8' folder if it exists
          • Reboot your PC.
          • Once these steps are completed, download and install NT8 from the link below.

            If I follow the above steps will it completely wipe out all of my Workspaces and charts? I have several complex strategies and alerts that I would hate to redo, not to mention my charts.

            After restarting NT8 four times it seems to be working well, do I need to do as you advised now?

              Hello rwilliam,

              Thank you for the update.

              Following the instructions above will not remove any of your personal workspaces etc. as those are stored in another location in your documents folder. However any changes made to the My Documents\NinjaTrader 8 folder can impact your personal settings.

              I would still recommend running the installer to confirm you've got a complete and stable installation.

                I have the license number but I was wondering how I can recover my log-in credentials so I can get my Rithmic data for my account.

                  Thank you for your reply.

                  You will need to reach out to your broker directly to get your login credentials resent to you. If you're a NinjaTrader Brokerage customer you can reach them at BrokerageSupport(at)NinjaTrader(dot)com.
