    Hello,

    Thanks for your post.

Access denied generally means that NinjaTrader cannot write to the file.

Does this occur after restarting the computer?

Is there antivirus on the computer preventing NinjaTrader from writing files?

Does the Documents\NinjaTrader 8 folder have permissions for the windows user to write files in all sub folders?

If you delete the files in Documents\NinjaTrader 8\log and restart the computer do you get the same error?

My virus protection is blocking this: "Ninja Trader .exe is trying to change or delete the file Trace.20200716.txtin your protected documents folder" Do you want to block or allow app to make these changes? I wanted to check with you if this is normal and should I allow the app to make these changes ? I have been using ninja trader for more than 10 years and never saw saw this before. I'm using Ninja trader 7. I was worried it might be some kind of ransom ware or something. Thank You. Stephen Foote

        Yes, allow that.

For more than 10 years, NinjaTrader.exe has been writing to files in that folder.
        This activity is completely normal.

Have you recently switched or upgraded your virus protection software?
Which AV software do you currently use?

You never saw it before because (presumably) your AV software never
complained before -- NinjaTrader.exe requires read/write access to its
trace and log files (among many others) -- always has.

If your AV software has customizable settings, you really should tell it to
allow NinjaTrader.exe total read/write/delete access to everything in the
        My Documents/NinjaTrader folder ...

I have only used one AV software for 10+ years.

            I use Microsoft Security Essentials.
            Unobtrusive.
            Lightweight.
            Free.

I have had zero issues(*) for 10+ years.

            -- I'm still rocking w/Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit.
-- I also use Malwarebytes free version.
-- Absolutely no one uses my trading/coding PC except for me.
-- I don't surf to crazy web sites (but I do a lot of web surfing,
mostly for reading news/blogs, and code development).
-- I do not surf or use gaming websites, at least, never from this PC.
-- I never open email attachments from people I don't know.
            -- I practice safe computing.
-- Did I mention it was free?

            Just my 2˘.
