    Instrument Change

I have quite a few instruments open in separate chart windows. Two of those instruments are ES and MES.

For the first time in years of using NT, I placed an order in the MES window and noticed that the instrument traded was ES. The instrument had also been changed to ES in the drop down from the top tool bar. I know that I didn't change the instrument in the drop down. I assume that I did something that changed it.

I'm hoping that you can suggest what I might have done, so I don't repeat it.

    Thanks,
    Stephen

Is that chart window "Linked" to another window?

Check upper right corner of chart window for 'L' button,
it's just before the 3 Minimize, Maximize, and Close buttons.

No links on any chart windows.

        Well, rats.

But still, I think that's probably the best explanation that fits your description.

It will be educational to watch developments of further answers, perhaps
I'll learn something as well -- I mean, this is a bit curious.

        Good luck!

PS: Just to confirm, this happened while using NT7, correct?

No. NT8. Maybe I posted in the wrong forum.

Yeah ... but no worries, NT support can fix that.

Beg pardon, I still suspect something inadvertent must have happened on your part.

Perhaps keyboard input was sent to the wrong window, due to a mouse focus in the
wrong window when you started typing?

I'd suggest you become an expert with all three links on this page.

              The answer is out there.

              Good luck!

                I think you nailed it.
I sort of remember my accidently popping up the instrument overlay window. I was about to make a trade, and I thought that I had just escaped out of it, but I might have hit a key.

                Thanks,
                Stephen
