ninja using too much memory (MB Trading)

    Hello all,

I just registered and was hoping I could get some advice. I've been working with support on an issue I'm having when connected to MB Trading. The ninja charts application is crashing because of a memory error. My PC has 2 GB RAM which should be plenty.

Does anyone know about this issue, is there any way around this?
After a lot of communication with support (I appreciate their diligent help) I'm being told to use ninja without navigator, however there is no way for me to place orders this way. What are my options?

    thanks very much

    Hello,

What do you mean when you say:
"I'm being told to use ninja without navigator"

What is the first name of the support person you are working with?

      thanks for the response

It's Jason and he has been great in helping me.

What I was referring to is the way the connection to MB is set, I believe on the last step on the connection wizard there is a check box to enable the Navigator window upon connecting. It didn't crash when we tried without the Navigator window, however I wouldn't have a way to place orders without the Navigator window.

The trace files say "....out of memory.........." Apparently at some point all of my 2GB RAM is being used. Also this happens after working for a while. It does not crash right away

I have something to add to this thread. I have no issue with performance, however when I check the processes, NT is using 220,508k of ram with just a dom open! That seems awfully high.

how much data do you have loaded?
          How many indicators?

I have many charts loaded with indicators and only use 700MB of ram using windows xp.

You don't need to open the Navigator to load / connect to MB. You can do everything through NT.

Could you check if you are running any workspaces in the background that will request memory as well. Please go to File-->Workspaces and check how many workspaces are listed below "Save Workspace As".

If you are running any workspaces in the background, please select them and close them via File-->Workspaces-->Close Workspace.

I have no workspaces running besides the one i have open. The weird part imo is that when I close all charts and have just a dom the memory usage is still 200,000k plus

Can you please check the size of the NinjaTrader database. Please go to My Documents-->NinjaTrader 6.5-->db and tell me the size of the NinjaTrader.mdb file.

In addition, please ensure you only have "Order" and "Connect" enabled under the Diagnostics-tab.

Disregard the Diagnostics-tab for now. You database is quite large and most likely related to the RAM usage.

I suggest to rename your database.

Please go to My Documents-->NinjaTrader 6.5-->db and rename the NinjaTrader.mdb file to OldNinjaTrader.mdb. Start NinjaTrader (a fresh new database is created) and check if the RAM usage is still that high when only having a SuperDOM opened.

Unfortunately, there is no standard answer; this depends on other aspects as well.

I tested this setup on my end and it used around 45,000 Kb.
