I had exactly the same problem as TraderTony reported on Sep 5th. After upgrading TWS I couldn't connect to TWS and got exactly thesame error message as he reported. Follwing your advise I downgraded TWS and now I'm running TWS stand alonebuild 860.9. NT version:5.2.1000.1
To connect, I first start TWS manually (runs well and connects to my charting sw). While TWS up & running, I try to connect NT, yet it will not connect. Instead TWS pops up a message that a newer version is available,and a TWS log-in window (eventhough TWS is already runing.)
