Error on loading chart data Could not connect to history socket

I'm getting this error quite a bit tonight and i'm wondering if it's just IQ that is messing up or if there is another problem. It seems that if I run my strategy against a date that doesn't have data it gives this error. For example, I was testing my strategy until nov 1 2008 yesterday without problems. Today I was getting this error so I set it to oct 31 2008 and it worked. It could be random and not have anything to do with this I don't really know.

I searched and didn't find anything so I thought I'd post this here to find out more about this error.

    Hello Cunparis,

    Please repair your database:

Disconnect NinjaTrader from any open connections via File > Disconnect
From the NinjaTrader Control Center window select the menu Tools > Options
    Select the "Misc" tab
    Press the "Repair DB" button
    Press the "OK" button

Attempt this again tomorrow and let me know if you still receive this error.

I'm having this same problem, also using IQFeed. I'm trying to load a strategy the same way as I always have, and when I attempt to start it, it gives that error.

I tried repairing the database as per the above suggestion but that made no difference.

EDIT: Deleting the database resolved the issue. Maybe it got too big? Was pushing 500 MB.

For future reference you might want to rename the database. It contains all saved chart data, trade history and ATM templates.

Rename the NinjaTrader.mdb to OldNinjaTrader.mdb, so NinjaTrader will create a fresh new database upon start-up. Whenever you like to retrieve data from the old database, rename the OldNinjaTrader.mdb back to rename NinjaTrader.mdb. Name the new database different.

I'm using IQfeed and started getting these a lot in the last couple days also. But, I found that if I disconnected IQfeed and re-loaded, it worked every time.

Regarding the database: will NT7 correct this "db too large" limitation? I do not want to lose historical data at my fingertips.

          Mike

            Hi,

I'm not sure if this has been officially addressed for version 7 of NinjaTrader. I will forward this suggestion to our development team for future consideration.
