Kinetick reconnection loop, never reconnects

    Kinetick reconnection loop, never reconnects

    Hi,

    Every day at some stage my Kinetick connection drops and goes into a reconnection loop, never reconnecting successfully despite the internet connection being up.

    See the logs below. It could be my WIFI dropping for a moment which it does sometimes, but it should be able to reconnect shouldn't it?

    I'd like to take a look at your log and trace files for this issue. These files contain diagnostic information related to what is occurring on your platform that will help us resolve this issue in a timely manner.

    Please follow the steps below to manually attach your log and trace files to an email to platformsupport[AT]ninjatrader[DOT]com with "3277326 ATTN Marco G" in the subject line and a link to this forum post in the message body so I may investigate this matter further.

    Open your NinjaTrader folder under Documents.
    Right click on the 'log' and 'trace' folders and select Send To> Compressed (zipped) Folder.
    Send the 2 compressed folders as attachments to this email.
    Once you have emailed these to us, you may delete these compressed folders.

      Hi,

      Same problem of a different flavour. The control panel says Kinetick is still connected but data stops coming through to the charts. Log file text shows the below.

      I wake up in the morning with no alarms having gone off through the night, find that Ninjatrader still reports the connection is live. The charts have all stopped printing many hours prior through. A manual disconnect and reconnects always fixes the problem until the next time it happens.

      This happens most days. I have a hard wired connection to my router and no other issues with other programs regarding my internet.

      Sending log and trace to the NT email address now.

        Thank you for the inquiry.

        This error is typically common with NinjaTrader 7.

        You will need to close and reopen NinjaTrader and reconnect to Kinetick to regain your connection. It is not expected behavior for Kinetick to stay connected overnight in the future.

          NinjaTrader_Sev This is an NT7 thread, but your comment "It is not expected behaviour for Kinetick to stay connected overnight in the future" is striking.
          1. Given the recent issues faced with Kinetic, presumably this will apply to Kinetic Connections in NT8 also?
          2. Will this apparent change be prominently notified in the Forum and on relevant website pages?
          3. What is the exact nature and details of the period of disconnection?
          4. What specific implications are expected for executing strategies and live Orders?
          5. Anything else that should be made explicit about this to ensure traders can understand, be aware and anticipate this?

              Hello,

              Thank you for the inquiry.

              I have confirmed with my manager, and he informed me that in the event of a disconnection, the market data adapters within NinjaTrader 7 may not always have the ability to automatically reconnect. This capability was improved with NinjaTrader 8.

              When you leave NinjaTrader connected overnight, you expose your connections to overnight network instabilities like ISP maintenance. As a result, we would recommend restarting NinjaTrader 7 on a daily basis to ensure that your connections are active.
