Will NT 7's charts be based on Windows Presentation Foundation (WPF) or WinForms?

    thanks,

It will be based on WinForms.

I'm sure you have your reasons for sticking with WinForms but if you are going to require .net framework 3.5 that can't be one of the reasons.

      thanks,

Sure, e.g. backward compatibility: any 3rd party custom painting indicator would break if we didn't.

Well, assuming the performance advantages are worth it, have you considered other options?

Can NT not support both WPF and WinForms? How about a 'wrapper' for legacy indicators that insures compatibility for existing indicators, while at the same time allowing the advantages of WPF?

If both options were available, 3rd-party developers could decide which to support. As Winforms has in effect been superceded by WPF and may not be developed further or too the same extend as WPF, what happens for NT9 and .NET 5.0 if WinForms becomes 'obsolete'? Wouldn't it be better to prepare for this possibility as soon as possible by supporting WPF?

We have considered any possible option and decided to not support WPF for NT7. Thanks for your suggestion though.

              This may be helpful

Just ran into this article today (above link). I second the idea to eventually allow for WPF to be possible.

Unfortunately we don't have such plans at this time.
