mbtrading demo account

I have an mbt live account and live ninja license and all that is
working fine (so I do know how to set it up).

however, I also have an mbt demo account for experimenting with
their order server that I cannot get to data to stream into nt. the
demo account connects (green status 'connected'), but if i look in
the log, it says stuff like 'unable to recover orders for instruments
xyz since provider does not support these instruments', listing the
ones i'm trying to stream (I think because I traded that today).

if in nt, I hit file/mbt navigator to pop up the mbt box, i see the symbols
streaming data into their console, but still the data is not going into
the nt charts.

if i look in the instrument manager after connecting, it only lists
instrument types of 'index' as available.

i have nt 6.5.1000.7 and mbt nav 11.1.0.2.

Hey vette,

When you signed up for the demo did it specify what market it was for? I *think* when I did I said FOREX, so I don't get any other instruments in my demo acct.

I signed up for all mkts for the demo account, and I am getting futs and equities quotes in the mbt nav launched from within nt - but for some reason, nt itself doesn't use them.

Could you please send a note to support[at]ninjatrader[dot]com and include your MBTrading demo username and password. That way I can create and test your MBTrading demo connection on my end.

Jason, thx for the offer, but when I figured out that demo account
wouldn't work with just their mbt navigator running, i contacted them.
the demo account wasn't initialized correctly on their end, it's
resolved now, not an nt issue. thanks again.

got a little further, still having issues.

I can now get demo mbt streaming data into a nt demo platform, no problem.

I tried with the live nt platform (which is my goal), but ran into issues.
for background, was trading today and after mkt closed, wanted to
test this in demo mode. so closed nt, reopened and then linked to
the mbt demo account. data coming in fine, then tried to place trade,
trade never was confirmed (locked in pending). I scratch my head,
close nt and reopen it. now nt won't connect to that mbt demo
account. trace in log says:

mbtdemo:Primary connection=Disconnected

Cbi.Connection.ProcessEventArgs.ConnectionStatusEv entArgs.Recover/Reset: Could not update; currently locked.

mbtdemo: Primary connection=Connected

Can you please tell me what account was selected when trading in demo and connected to the MBT demo connection?

I suggest to remove the current MBT demo connection and recreate a new one and check if you can get connected again.
