    Connecting to IB

    Hi,

    Probably this is asked already, but it seems not possible for NinjaTrader to connect to TWS from NinjaTrader.

    What happens, when I select connect, NT starts TWS enters the login data, and I get automatically logged in to TWS. But after a few seconds NT closes TWS and restarts the proces of login to TWS. This is repeated 3 times. And then I get a message from NT that it has a timeout because it couldn't connect to TWS.

    I've no idea why NT can't get connected, because the startup and login goes well.

    NT version 6.5.1000.7
    TWS version downloaded from your website 887.2
    I've installedseems not

    Thank you for your post.

    Please try the following:
    1.) Remove your connection: Tools --> Account connections --> (your created connection) --> remove.
    2.) Repair your database: Tools --> Options --> Misc --> Repair DB.
    3.) Restart NinjaTrader and create a new connection using the connection guide: http://www.ninjatrader.com/webnew/su...tionguides.htm

      Thanks for your quick response!

      I did this, but it didn't make a difference.

      The log from NT only gives a log entry with connection timout.

        Try the following:

        -Shut down NT.
        -Open and connect to TWS
        -Start NT and try connecting to IB.

          Even when I try to start TWS first and then NT, NT will start a new instance of TWS. And I doesn't make a difference if the checkbox "Auto logon" is checked or not.

          On the connection options by NT I have selected:
          - Trigger after hours
          - Use user settings (leave checked)
          - username = I tried it with the username, and I did a try lieving it blank
          - password = I tried it with the username, and I did a try lieving it blank
          - host = 127.0.0.1
          - log level = error
          - port = 7496 (same as within TWS)
          - clientid = 0

          Also did it with Auto logon checked, didn't make a difference, constantly made a new connection.

          BTW I have once installed the Application Programming Interfaces from TWS version API 9.51, I hope this is not screwing things up?

            I just installed the whole thing on another computer, one that hadn't TWS or NT running.

            I just installed first TWS downloaded from this site http://www.ninjatrader-support.com/n...nstall_887.exe

            And then installed the latest NT version 6.5.1000.8

            Then did exactly as explained in the movie, the same as before, and the samething happend again, TWS is started 3 times after each other by NT.

            What's going on???

              Hello johannes,

              Can you please set 'host' to localhost in your IB connection and check if this will make a difference.

              If not, please send me your log and trace files. You can find these files at the following locations:

              Start Menu--> My Documents--> NinjaTrader 6.5--> Log--> log.20081210 for today. (log.yyyymmdd for any other date)

              Start Menu--> My Documents--> NinjaTrader 6.5--> Trace--> trace.20081210 for today. (trace.yyyymmdd for any other date)

              Send them to support[at]ninjatrader[dot]com, reference this thread and put 'Attn Jason" in the subject header.

                I would realy like to thank you! When I changed 127.0.0.1 into localhost within NT it worked! Very strange, because both refer to localhost...but thats something for your programmers.

                I can finally get to work :-)

                  Hello, I have a problem with IB connection too. When I put my username, pw, and check "auto logon" here:



                  And then open NT first, IB show me this message:



                  Of course if I open IB TWS first, and don't configure NT to auto logon, works fine. It is correct? There are any way to start NT first and IB works fine? Do you know why this happen?
