    SA runs intermittently

    yesterday morning I ran numerous optimizations using 4dec YM tick data...i.e. 30 tick chart

    in the afternoon 4 dec would not run at all ...with the same settings of course....other dates ran fine

    4 dec will run now only with 1 minute data

    i have 200 days of recorded tick data for YM....SA is intermittent with which days it will run

    it never runs the current day...even though i have disconnected from zenfire at the end of the day and have a full day recorded....i have to wait until tomorrow to run today

    why will SA not run tick data on 4 dec (and other dates) when it ran fine earlier? the data has not changed and runs fine in MR

    Hi ATI user,

    Did you check the 'Time frame From / To' settings when starting a backtest in the Strategy Analyzer? Is this set the current date when you try backtesting in the pm / evening?

      not sure which question you are addressing

      I am using Optimize not Backtest and in all cases I only test one day at a time

      so for 4 dec the from to are both 4 dec

      in the case of testing today after the close the from to is today...the session time is 12 to 12...so maybe it will not run as it is only 4 pm when I run it and the session end time has not been reached?

        Hi ATI user,
        I just tried this and it works for me, even on the current unfinished day session while connected...have you tried repairing the DB (Tools > Options > Misc)?

        Also, are you on the lastest 6.5.1000.8 while doing this?

            loaded .8

            ran SampleMAcrossover in SA optimize

            today worked fine...as did dec 1 2 and 3

            dec 4 and 5 do not work although they replay fine in Market Replay

            as mentioned...SA optimized dec 4 fine and many times earlier...why not now

              Hi ATI user,
              The data for Market Replay and Strategy Analyzer is not connected...so you could try to clear your database and reload your data.

              Did you try to optimize across the data, on more than one day?

              Which settings did you use to optimize?

                per my post above...i only set to one day at a time...i.e. for 4 dec the 'from' and 'to' are both 4dec

                settings are the default

                    actually i only do one day as my cs does not work on multiple days

                    so i only tested SampleMACrossover on one day at a time also...and it would not work on dec4 or 5

                      Please delete your old data then and repair your database (Tools > Options > Misc). Connect to ZenFire after that and download a fresh set of data to run the backtest / optimization on.

                      Alternatively, you can forward my your CS file to support at ninjatrader dot com with a reference to this thread 12477 and I will test this on my end over here.

                          Then I would suggest deleting the stored data and loading it fresh.

                          If that does not help, I would suggest going with a new database by renaming the old one and starting NinjaTrader fresh, but you will need to backup / export your custom files beforehand.

                            the problem is that SA will only run on minute charts

                            will not run on tick, volume, range or second charts...even though all my data is recorded when running tick charts

                              Hi ATI user, how much data are you requesting? Do you stay connected to your broker / datafeed when trying the SA backtest on tickdata types? I just checked a short term volume chart with the Sample MA crossover and ZenFire and it worked well.
