Workspace Crash

    Workspace Crash

    I booted up early today. I opened a two chart workspace. Before I closed the workspace i forgot and deleted the two charts. I then reloaded the charts and reconfigured the workspace.

    When I tried to save the workspace, NT froze. I went to Task Manager to delete one of the charts and the whole program crashes.'

    That happened several times.

    I have been afraid to do a workspace again.

    What am I doing wrong.

    There may be corrupt data in your database.

    Please try the following to correct this:
    Please try repairing your database:
    1. Go to Tools --> Options --> Misc --> Repair DB
    Please try repairing your NinjaTrader Installation:
    1. Shut Down NinjaTrader
    2. Go to Uninstall Programs in the Windows Control Panel
    3. Select NinjaTrader and hit the "repair" or "change" button and follow the instructions to repair the installation.

      Not sure what you are talking about uninstall programs in windows control panel. Are you talking about "add or remove" programs? Tried that but it only allows me to remove the program without a repair function. What do I do?

        There should be a "change" button available there as well.

        Test your workspace and let me know if everything is working ok with the repaired database.

          I tried a new workspace, configured two charts, but when I go to save workspace NT freezes. I go to Task Manager and delete on chart and the whole system closes.

            I suggest your rename your database and delete all workspaces to get rid of any corrupt data.

            1.) Rename database:
            1. Shut Down NinjaTrader
            2. Go to \Documents\NinjaTrader6.5\db
            3. Rename the file NinjaTrader.mbd to OldNinjaTrader.mbd

            2.) Delete Workspaces
            1. Shut Down NinjaTrader
            2. Go to \Documents\NinjaTrader6.5\Workspaces
            3. Delete all workspace files, including default.
            -NinjaTrader will create a new default upon startup.

              I have a question. The last few days, since i only have one Sim account, when i finished my strategy, i would download the trades and clear out the account by going to the tools/options/simulator and reset the account.

              Would that have any impact. It is the only thing I am doing different.

                There are two databases there.

                Ninja Trader.mdb
                Ninja Trader.old

                  If you don't want to save these, I suggest deleting both. NT will build a new one upon startup.

                  If you want to save, move to a temporary folder.

                    Ok, it works now.

                    But I have another question.

                    The workspaces are troubling. I start a new workspace. I start a new chart. If I touch the program, the chart minimizes to the status bar. If I do the "always on top", I cannot see the popups from the control page.

                    I have looked thru the help topics, but the issue does not seemed to be addressed.

                    Is there a more detailed instruction set somewhere so i can do the workspaces more intelligently.

                        I have the control center in the background.

                        I load a new chart.

                        If I click on the control center functions, the chart will minimize.

                        The only way to stop it is to put the chart "always on top". but when i do that the popups from the control center are behind the chart and not visible.

                          Hello,


                          The chart actually goes down to your taskbar and is not just behind the Control center? If so, this is not normal behavior.

                          Are you changing workspaces when this happens? If so, get the workspace the way you want it then go to File>Workspaces>Save as.. to save it the way you want it.
