Negative versus positive

The last couple of posts really confused me. If I understand correctly one needs to define two different stop limit offsets, one for a short order (use a negative offset) and one for a long order (use a positive offset). Since these values are set in the properties of the DOM, I assume one has to dedicate one DOM for short orders and a separate DOM for long orders. Is that a correct interpretation of the information you provided? One last question, I never get that stop limit box to pop-up when I place the order. I have to separately click on it to get into the stop limit change.

Hello Daven,

I apologize, I just tested and you will use a negative value for a buy or sell.

-Make sure you are on the latest version of NinjaTrader, 6.5.1000.8.

This box should appear when you use the middle mouse click in the buy or sell column... what happens when you try that now?

Negative stop limit order error

I am testing an automated strategy which has a negative stop limit order ( eg short stop 3600, limit 3601 ) on the dax but I get the following error msg.

I can do this manually through chart trader on the simulator so am I doing something wrong?

Sorry _ I have just realised why it is rejected - its trying to place the order below the market.
However I still get the error msg (later trade) that the limit price can't be greater than the stop price

What type of order is it placing and at what prices?

Your limit may be too close to the last price... check with your broker to see if there are any restrictions on the exchange to how close your order can be to the last traded price.

If they say there is no issue there, send in a note to Support AT NinjaTrader DOT com and reference this post.

Well it's on the simulated account so I assume there can't be any restrictions such as that.
