TD Ameritrade Indices not showing up

I type in DJIA in a chart (I have TD Ameritrade Data connection) and get an error:

"Error on loading chart data for "DJIA Default": Error - Bad Symbol

Per another post I thought maybe this might work:

"Please change the instrument mapping for DJIA to "$DJI|DT"
    - instrument manager
    - find DJIA
    - Edit->Misc->Mappings->**Ameritrade**->"$DJI|DT"
    - OK"

Anyway, I **also* tried $INDU and $DJI ($DJI is the symbol that works on the TDA website) but still no chart. Any help would be appreciated.

    Hello trader_rick1234,

Please go to Tools-->Instrument Manager and remove the ^DJIA from your instrument list.

Go to Tools-->Options-->Misc-tab and click Reset Instruments.

Add the ^DJIA back to your instrument list and create a new chart for it.

I tested it on my end and the chart displayed the requested data.

Thanks...did not work though. These are the steps I followed:

1.) edit* I deleted this DJIA from the list and verified that it had been deleted by searching for it. It was in fact deleted
2.) Reset instruments (was prompted to disconnect first so I did)
      3.) saved the workspace
      4.) restarted NT (per prompt)
5.) went to instrument manager and looked up DJIA--it was already there.

I repeated the steps just to make sure. Should I add another DJIA so that I have two?

Please remove(!) the ^DJIA from your default instrument list. See the link below for instructions.

Reset Instruments and add the ^DJIA back to your list.

Thanks for your help. I got it to work. Doh. I wonder if all along I needed to type the "^" symbol. It wouldn't work until I typed "^". Just adding this info for anyone else that might read this.

            DJIA Chart

I want a chart that shows the Dow Jones Industrial Average Index (DJIA). If I create a chart using the YM 03-09, it is not the actual DJIA but a mini-DJIA index--is that correct?

--> This is correct. The instrument you are looking for DJIA is an index and your data provider must support indices. This instrument is in the instrument manager under index as ^DJIA.

So if I am using ZenFire, I can't use the DJIA index?

--> Correct. In the link I provided, you see that Zen-Fire does not provide index data. You can sign up with a data provider, such as BarChart or eSignal or any others who provide this data.
