New user questions

Hi,

I just started to dig into NT, so far I like it... I have few questions on things I am trying to do, i have read all the "charts" section in the on-line help guide and didn't find answers:
1) I want to set "daily" as the default time frame, I tried to save it as template but it doesn't seem to work, how can I do that?
2) I am drawing lines and stuff which is my on-going analysis, but apparently all is deleted when I close the chart. How can I preserve my drawings per instrument?
3) Is there any "percentage ruler", meaning a simple line tool which I can draw between 2 points and get the percentage difference in price.
4) while looking on intra-day data (say 15m) I want to display the 5 days SMA, how can I do that? when adding SMA(5) obviously it is for 5 15m bars.

I guess that's it for now...

Hello yuvalw,

1) Chart templates will not save the interval. Please save it in your workspace.

2) You can save drawing objects upon saving your workspace as well. Chart templates will only save applied indicators and chart property menu settings.

3) Unfortunately this is not supported.

4) This is not supported by default. However you can create custom indicators. More information can be found at the link below.

thx, for some reason I can't save the drawings.

File->New->Chart and choose XXX
Draw a line on the chart.
File->Workspaces->Save Workspace
Close the chart window.
File->New->Chart and choose XXX
No drawing.

what I do wrong?

This is as expected. It will not be listed on new charts that will be created. The drawing objects will only be saved on the chart you drew the drawings.

So there is no way I can persist my analysis from day to day?

Keep the chart you applied the drawing tools opened upon closing NinjaTrader and save your workspace.

Start NinjaTrader and the chart should appear with the drawing tools you applied the previous session.

Of course this is not feasible, I am keeping track on quite a few stocks (and timeframes) and can't leave all the charts open, this will mess my whole desktop
