    Same bar crossing entry and exit problem

    Hi,

    I contra trend enter an upper Bolinger Band (short) or lower BB (long) based on 5min bars. My target is an SMA (inbetween the upper and lower BB). I have CalculateOnBarClose = false, so I enter on the tick if crossing the BB (do not wait till bar gets closed)

    What happens is, that if price comes from the mid range, meaning across the SMA and then hits an entry signal by crossing the BB, it enters but also immediately exits the trade, as the same (unfinished) 5 min bar also touchs the SMA (as a "wrong" exit signal). So I enter and exit trades for a couple of times until this bar gest finished!

    For sure. With CalculateOnBarClose = false you are recalculating on every single tick. When your conditions are true your orders will trigger. If you do not want it to trade so many times you need to limit it with more conditions to make your trade conditions false.

        You can try temporary variables or you can also try something like BarsSinceExit().

          Btw, I changed the exit trigger from High (resp. Low) to Close (highlighted bold in code below). Because my idea is that if the close (which I guess is the tick price until the bar closes?) does not croos the midline after(!) the new entry was executed. But still the the open or at least its Hi/Lo would reach into the midline, hmm?

          In paper trading it seem to work, but I am not sure if this is really a soultion??

            You will just have to test it to see the behavior. Close is the most recent price when the bar is still active.

              Hi guys,

              How do you code the CrossAbove or CrossBelow lines mentioned above if you want the cross to happen on a different timeframe?

              Based on the code above, I'd like to try
              CrossAbove(Close, SMA(Period), 5),
              where "Close" and "SMA(Period)" should be on the 60-minute chart

              My guess would be
              CrossAbove(Closes[0], SMA(BarsArray[0],Period), 5)
              or
              CrossAbove(Close(BarsArray[0]), SMA(BarsArray[0],Period), 5)

              (The 60-minute bars object (the one I'd like to check on) has BarsArray 0, the 2-minute bars object has BarsArray 1 and the whole thing happens in BarsInProgress == 1 environment.)
