Connect to two IB accounts

If I would like to connect NT to two IB accounts for trading. Which type of license should I be purchase?

Hello xewoox,

You would need to purchase two licenses. It is only supported to trade two IB accounts that use seperate logon information by using two machines; one instance of NinjaTrader per machine connected to TWS logged into one of the two accounts.

It is not supported to connect multiple instances of TWS to one instance of NinjaTrader. It is not possible to open multiple instances of NinjaTrader on one machine as well.

When I look at the post below, it seems NT can do it. Am I wrong? This is why I made a port my trading strategy to NT from TradeStation

Unfortunately it is not supported. We use to support connecting multiple instances of TWS to NinjaTrader, but not anymore.

Do you know if we can take care of the source code and maintain it? The multiple instance one is very crucial for our operation. It is easy to have one Ninja Trader to execute multiple accounts (We currently have more than 5 accounts). We do not mind to make seperate arrangement for this previliege

Unfortunately this is not supported. It used be possible to connect multiple TWS instances (accounts) by using a different port number for each IB connection in NinjaTrader.

You can test this on your end, but at your own risk.

How about using a multi broker version?

I am a bit confused with the multi broker purpose. Does it means I can have multiple brokers but I can only connect to one instance of each broker. I was thinking I could create multiple instances of IB brokers and each would connect to different IB accounts.

Using the multi broker license you can connect to multiple different connectivity providers provided by the brokers you have your accounts with. If the accounts at one broker are accessible using one set of logon credentials, you should be able to select the accounts once connected.

I believe a single broker license would be sufficient to connect to multiple TWS instances (accounts) in one instance of NinjaTrader. Once again, it is not supported, so this is at own risk.

If you set up a Advisor Account with IB, this is easy, and you can trade as many IB accounts as you want from one NinjaTrader platform, and even duplicate the trades to the accounts.
