    Continuously painting 1 second chart

    Hi,

I would like a 1 second chart to paint second-by-second regardless of incoming ticks. I.e., if there are no ticks coming in for 15 seconds I would like a line chart to paint a horizontal line for 15 seconds. Accordingly every minute would consist of 60 steps. I wouldn’t need to add indicators to that display necessarily.

Is that possible and if so, how?

    Thank you for an answer,

    Peter

    Hello Peter,

    Thank you for your post.

Unfortunately this is not supported as the chart is updated only with incoming ticks. You can change the chart property Display update interval to 0 from its default .5 seconds, to update the chart tick by tick.

      That was fast!

But unfortunately that doesn’t help to see what I am after, as this would be the same as a 1 tick chart. But I don’t want to miss time. I want to be able to identify times with less action; I want to see in an instant, if there is a difference of several seconds between ticks or if they are coming in fast.
I have no programming background. But would it be possible to write something that would do the trick? An overlay or something like that?

        Hello Perplex,

You should be able to create an 1 second chart if your data feed provider supports historical tick data, which is used to create charts with a second interval.
