Possible to delete all historical data at once, instead of one contract at a time?

Hello,

Is it possible to delete all the historical data in Ninja Trader at once, instead of deleting it one contract at a time from the "Tools-->Historical Data-->Delete..." screen?

I don't want to delete the Treeview of contract nodes that I have in Strategy Analyzer. I just want to delete all the market data in the nodes so that I can reload the market data fresh from a bunch of new text files.

Unfortunately not. You could just load the text files in. They will overwrite the old ones.

Beware if your new files do not cover the whole data set you may have mixed old/new data.

Thanks for the warning. For our needs it is acceptable for the old data to go back further than the new data.

What if the old data for a single date was missing no 1 minute bars, but the new data was missing 30 minutes of 1 minute bars in the middle of the day on the same exact date?

Will the old data for that 30 minute period stay in Ninja Trader, or will it be overwritten by the missing 30 minutes of bars in the new data?

That's great news. I wouldn't want prices from the older data source to fill in the missing 1 minute bars for the same trading day that the new data source has been imported for.

Five months ago the answer to this question was "no", but I was wondering if there is yet a way to delete all the historical data in Ninja Trader at once, instead of deleting it one contract at a time from the "Tools-->Historical Data-->Delete..." screen?

Is there maybe a way I can do this in the NinjaTrader access database by hand or something if there is no way to do this through the user interface?

I have more than 1,000 contracts whose historical data I want to delete.

It is really important to my bosses that there is a 0% chance of any merged older data making it's way into the newer data from a better data provider that I hope to import this week.

Accessing the database is not supported. If you wanted to delete everything you could just delete the database altogether and that will get you a clean slate.

My Documents\NinjaTrader 6.5\db\NinjaTrader.mdb.

If you opt for this route you will lose a lot more than just data though. You will lose trade history, instrument manager lists, etc.

Is there anything I can do to mass delete the historical data without deleting my Instrument List?

If it helps, the ONLY thing I need to NOT delete is my instrument list. Everything else can be deleted.

I would like to make a NT7 New Feature Request:

"Mass Delete Historical Data": It could be a button next to the button that allows the user to delete the data for a single contract.

NT7 will come with a Historical Data Manager. It should be easier to do what you want in there.
