    'System.OutOfMemoryException' was thrown

    Hello,
I get this Message when I complie a NinjaScript code:
Unable to load custom assembly: Exception of type 'System.OutOfMemoryException' was thrown.

I then hit OK and then hit OK to compile.

    What does this Message mean?
How can I avoid getting this Message.

    Thanks

    Hello,

    Thank you for your note.

This means that you have hit your maximum memory limit for your PC.

Please use the following link for some performance tips: http://www.ninjatrader-support.com/H...anceTips1.html

      RJStein,

In fairness it is not a PC limit, it is a Ninja limit (1.3GB). I have 12GB of memory and hit this limit all the time.

To clarify: it's neither NinjaTrader nor a PC HW limitation. It's a windows limitation: no 32-bit windows process can use more than ~1.5GB of RAM regardless how much RAM would be available physically.

Yes, it's too bad NT7 isn't going to be written to use x64, so this problem will still exist.

To clarify: NT7 will run on Windows 64bit. As of now some people experience trouble running NT6.5/6 on Windows 64bit. This will be overcome by NT7. However, NT7 still will be a 32bit process experiencing the same restrictions like any other 32bit process on Windows 64bit.

@ctrlbrk: Mike, I ran some tests this morning. I wanted to clarify some of my findings. Could you please PM me at "dierk [DOT] droth [AT] ninjatrader [DOT] com"? Thanks

It would be interesting for some of us to try the 4GB tuning options if they were enabled in NT .. or perhaps they are?

                    No Luck
Added the 3gig change to my Vista 64 system and restarted.
Loaded NT and attempted to load two large tick charts.
                    - ES - 1 tick, 30 days and ZN 1 tick 30 days. That's a LOT of ticks, and huge memory requirement.

But no change to NT behavior .. it still crashed and died about 1.4gig

But I think this is expected .... programs need to be compiled with a special flag to support more than 2gig per application. and it doen't apply to 64 bit systems.

NT7 will be compiled with that flag so you could use this feature. This flag will be effective on 64bit systems as well.

@Trader.Jon, @Zoltran: Actually we are looking for 1-2 users who wanted to try this on an experimental base in Win32bit and/or Win64bit with NT6.5.

                        This would require:
                        - having 6.5.1000.10 installed
                        - having VisualStudio 2005 or 2008 installed
                        - >=4GB physical RAM to not deal with swapping issues
                        - some proficiency in managing your Windows system

If you would be willing to try and you would meet requirements above then please send me a PM to email in post below and include this info:
                        - what Windows version do you have installed?
                        - how much physical RAM does you machine have?

                        Thanks

Note: We do not take any responsibility on any damage incurred by tweaking your window system to make use of the "4GB tuning option".

                          Cant locate PM button

                          Dierk,

This is a wonderful opportunity, if I could figure out how to send that PM.

                          lol@me ?!

                          6.5.1000.10 is installed
I will look to have VisualStudio 2005 or 2008 installed
8GB physical RAM with WinXP pro 64bit patched up to date - IE7 NOT IE8
I have some proficiency in managing my Windows system

I am willing to try this: hopefully you have explicit instructions as to the procedure I can follow. I can use a spare partition and copy over a backup image so as to not affect my working installation.

Thanks, however we already have 2 testers on Win64bit. I'm looking for a tester on 32bit Windows and >= 4 GB RAM.
