carrying overnight positions with Trading Technologies

I would like to have some clarifications about the warning on the instructions for the connection to Trading Technologies (TT) in

"We advise you NOT to carry positions overnight (between sessions) since NinjaTrader will inaccurately report your position which can adversely affect your account"

does it mean:

1) you cannot run strategies on NT connecting to TT overnight, because TT resets its servers sometime at night, and NT gets disconnected.

2) Imagine you take a position and fire some orders (limit or stop) with NT connected to TT, manually or with a strategy and then shut down NT. When you reconnect the following day the positions and the orders in the market are not visible form NT.

3) For example: I go long 1 ES using Basic Entry with a stop loss. Disconnect TT, close down NT. I come back the following day, the stop loss was not triggered: do I still see my position (Long 1 lot ES) and order (stop loss) when I connect to TT from NT?

2) was actually the same as 3), with a specific example. My concern is:

4) If I have an overnight open position and every morning I open NT, connect to TT and look up my account, I will not see the open position?

5) If I have a limit order GTC and every morning I open NT, connect to TT and look up my account, I will not see the limit order?

You should NOT have any open position nor orders over night with TT.

You would be on your own if you wanted to understand what happened as you would not follow that advise. Thanks for your understanding

Done that accidentally: you dont want the expewrience!

Flatten everything EVERYTHING if you are using TT and then go online to your Velocity Portal and verify your positions are closed at the end of the trading session.

Currently overnight positions are not supported with Trading Technologies for NinjaTrader 6.5 or NinjaTrader 7.

i remember a few people saying that NT7 will support overnight positions with TT data feed a while ago, even my broker said it would. I now have an account with the wrong broker, why can't TT be like the other broker technologies

Hello koganam,

You can trade overnight with the exception of a few brokers; for example who use Trading Technologies connection/brokerage technology.

Other than that, you will need to compensate for a broker’s server shutdown time; e.g. Patsystems, Interactive Brokers, etc.

Note: Zen-Fire does not have a server shut-down time.
