Cannot successfully merge contracts

    Cannot successfully merge contracts

    Want to merge 1/1/09 - 3/15/09 from ES 03-09 into ES ##-##. Have tried start date of 12/1/08, 12/15/08, 1/1/09.... all error.

    Have done successfully for past periods, but am getting error for this.

    Have repaired DB, exited ninja, rebooted, reloaded ninja, no change.

    Here are several screen shots showing the successful charts, and the merge error.

    I can bring up chart of ES 03-09 with those dates with no problem.





    Merge error suggests the problem is ES ##-## contains no data to sync with.



    I can bring up chart of ES ##-## to where I want the merge to begin, no problem.



    Please tell me how to correct. I am on Zen-Fire so cannot simply reload historical data for ES ##-##.

          Hello ctrlbrk,

          Unfortunately Zen-Fire does NOT support the continuous contract (##-##), that is why you get "no... data available" messages for "to" instrument.

          You must use the current contract 06-09 for the "To" instrument.

            I know Zen doesn't support ##-##.

            I am simply using ##-## as a placeholder to dump the data into.

            Works fine for ES 12-08, ES 06-08... dumping into ES ##-##.

            So please explain why that would work, yet 03-09 wouldn't.

            Plus, the 'merge' feature can happen off-line. It is not tied to a Connection like Zen or IB, etc. How can it be a Zen issue when Zen isn't even in the equation.

            The error message says there is no data to sync with. I have proven with screen shots there is data.

            Please try again!

              Just happened to look at the log. Guess the problem is once again the memory limit issue of Ninja.

              Does not appear to be anything to do with ##-##, or Zen.

              These errors occurred during same period when I was trying to get the merge to work.

              I guess I will try smaller time frame or one day at a time and see if it doesn't overwhelm Ninja...

                I been trying to merge contracts for 2 years with ZenFire.
                You cant do it.

                  Worked fine for me once I went to smaller time frame since NT was silently crashing due to the infamous out of memory error when processing an entire contract period at a time.

                  I don't believe the merge function really has anything to do with the provider. Unless I am mistaken, NT is merging data it already has in its database, there is no inquiry from Zenfire or elsewhere during the merge request.
