I'm setting up a 3-stage auto with ONE contract:
(1) Initial stop loss:
upon entering the trade, put a 20 ticks stop loss
(2) Auto breakeven
when the trade has 8 ticks in profit, move the stop loss to breakeven
(3) Auto trail
(3a) 1-step
when the trade has 20 ticks in profit, move the stop loss to 12 ticks back and repeat every 8 ticks
(3b) 2-step
when the trade has 28 ticks in profit, move the stop loss to 24 ticks back and repeat every 4 ticks
(3c) 3-step
when the trade has 32 ticks in profit, move the stop loss to 30 ticks back and repeat every 2 ticks
The result I got was different from what I expected.
I long ONE ES at 1817.5
- The initial stop loss is OK
- Breakeven is OK
- AutoTrail: All the limit prices are at least 1 point below what I thought.
Step 1: when the trade has 20 ticks profit, 1822.5,
I want the stop loss price = 1820.5 (12 ticks back from my entry price).
But the log in sim mode showed the new stop loss was 1819.5, ie 4 ticks below my idea stop
Step 2: when the trade has 28 ticks profit, 1824.5,
I want the stop loss price = 1823.5 (24 ticks back from my entry price).
But the log in sim mode showed the new stop loss was 1820, ie 2.5 points below my idea stop
Step 3: when the trade has 32 ticks profit, 1825.5,
I want the stop loss price = 1825 (30 ticks back from my entry price).
But the log in sim mode showed the new stop loss was 1820.5, ie 3 points below my idea stop
What went wrong in my setting?
Besides, how to set the default limit price once the stop price is hit? Currently it's set to 5 points.
Thanks.
