    Send Mail problems

I have read many posts on how to fix many problems with simply setting up email alerts. I cannot enter lines of code because the indicator alerts I'm looking to receive are third party so the code is protected.

It would be helpful if you could list a step by step example of say setting up Gmail or Yahoo to receive emails. Some of the error messages I have from today.

    Hello rightcoast,

Can you please check for software, such as (corporate) firewalls, spyware and anti-virus software, that could be blocking the connection to the email servers.

I believe YAHOO uses SSL for their mail services. Unfortunately this is not supported with 6.5 (but will be with NT7). Sorry for the inconvenience.

I gave up on yahoo as well as Gmail, now I am trying my optonline
error: Failed to send mail: Error connecting to server.81.169.163.72
this is when I leave SMTP blank= default

when adding the appropriate smtp server info error= Failed to send mail 533.5.7.1 Auth ciommanf is not enabled.

Seeing other inquires on the support thread that are identical however no post on the solution? btw firewall and antivirus are turned off.

User and password are blanked out as well.

I have tried so many combinations I find the urge to monitor the weather channel for the ideal lunar cycle. I appreciate your help but this function
            is giving me heartaches.

For me, my ISP blocks port 25. Try port 587. I am a Plus subscriber with Yahoo, here are my settings. Even non-plus can use port 587, just change the address.

In order to work, you must use the username and password. If your email address is [email protected], then the username you should use is bob.
