Not currently via UI. However, if you place the attached file in

    My Documents\NinjaTrader 6\db\

and restart NT, it will overwrite your existing instruments in the database. If you are up to it, take a look at the file itself. Formatting is explained. You could edit the file and add your instruments.

A more complete instrument list import is on our enhancement list.

      Adding List

      Ray,

Just to make sure I understand, if I wanted to add a new list, called "XYZ" and assume that it contained all NASDQ stocks, would I simply add "XYZ" and all the contained stocks at the end of this file where the DOW 30 and NASDQ100 lists were?

      2) What if List XYZ contained a stock not list up above in the NASDQ 100 section?

NT6.5 supports an instrument import. Please check out File->Utilities->Import Stop Symbol list and related docs (press F1 in NT6.5).

          Import Lists or Import Instruments?

Am I missing a step? I follow the instructions and import a list of stocks, create a new list name, but the list contains ONLY the stocks in the import list that were not already in the Instrument Manager.

To make sure I am clear, what I really want to do is import LIST definitions that would contain ALL the desired stocks and eliminate me from having to manually build the list from the list of stocks in the Instrument Manager.

Is there a new way in 6.5 to import entire lists of stocks into the existing lists and have that list contain ALL the desired stocks, or do I have to do what Ray mentions several posts down and edit the Instruments.Txt file he attached?

            Correct, this is expected behaviour.

Thanks for your suggestion. We'll add it to the list of future considerations.

Update: We will change the behavior with next beta, so all instrument in the import list would get assigned to the selected instrument list.

                Special chars on symbols

First of all, congratulation for the excelente work on NinjaTrader. It is an amazing tool.

I tried to use the bulk (Instruments.txt) procedure but NT freezes updating my list of symbols. It´s because they are written using a dot.

Please consider treating stock symbols like

                VALE5.SA http://finance.yahoo.com/q?s=vale5.sa
                EMBR3.SA http://finance.yahoo.com/q?s=EMBR3.SA

                and indexes like:

                ^BVSP http://finance.yahoo.com/q?s=%5EBVSP

                Congratulations again.

                TIA,
                R.Galvao

This will be overcome with next NT6.5 beta.

We'll add importing indexes to our list of future considerations.
