    Atm

    Hi
A basic question I should know the answer to:

Do ATM strategies reside on the users PC..or the brokers server? Following..does my PC need to be on if I am in a trade using ATM's or OCO's?

Or..does it always need to be on if I have any open trade or pending order?

    thanks
    Lindsay

    Hi Lindsay,

    Thank you for your post.

The location of your order depends on it's status and your provider. For more information, please see the following link: http://www.ninjatrader-support2.com/vb/showthread.php?t=5349

Orders in a state "Accepted" or "Working" are at the exchange. If the exchange does not support a specific order type, the order will be active on the Zen-Fire servers.
OCO (One Cancels Other) functionality is simulated on your local PC

thanks Kyle: I am still not 100% clear here....all ATMs would involve OCO's wouldnt they? Likewise any bracket order involves OCO doesnt it? ie when a TP is hit the stoploss is cancelled?

So in effect this means that the buy/sell pending orders, when 'accepted' ,reside at the exchange or at Zenfire...but that all trade mangement related orders reside on your PC?

Can you pls explain to me (as a zen client) where each order would reside with an ATM where I have a pending buystop order for a 3 lot long entry with 3 TP levels and a trailing stop?

      thks for your patience

        Hi Lindsay,

        Thank you for your reply.

1.) Yes, all ATM Strategies make use of OCO.

        2.) Correct.

3.) In the scenario you described, the profit targets and stop loss orders are simulated on your local PC.

Please let me know if you have any additional questions.

          thanks Kyle
So for all long term trades..one must have pc on at all times..or stops and TP's will not exist.

If one is in a trade with an attached ATM and internet connection is temporarily lost, this will not alter the ATM in any way when connection is reestablished willl it?

          :-)

            Hello Lindsay,

Correct, as long as your entry order does not execute and your stop loss and profit target do not receive an accepted/working status, they are located on your PC with Zen-Fire.

No, when in a trade with a working stop loss and profit target at the broker/exchange, a disconnection will not change the ATM strategy; the stop loss and profit target remain working at the broker/exchange.

              Hi

I don't suppose there is some way that the state of a strategy can be saved (say if the connection is lost) so it can be reinstated when the connection is restored?

                Unfortunately this is not supported.
