    PFG vs Zen-Fire

    2 questions I guess.

Rumor and innuendo have it that Zen-fire's data feed is superior because you get full unedited tick data as opposed to other providers that edit data by not sending every tick out. While the effect on time-based charts is insignificant, tick-based charting would be severely compromised.

My current broker is PFG. How significant is the data editing? Would I be able to use a Zen-fire feed with PFG or would I need to goto Mirus?

    Hi kocmodpom,

    Thank you for your post.

1.) You would need to contact PFG regarding the data editing.

2.) No, the Zen-Fire datafeed is not offered by PFG. You would need to use another brokerage who does offer this datafeed.

Is there a short list of brokerages that do allow the Zen-fire feed?

        Hi kocmodpom,

        Thank you for your reply.

The following brokerages support Zen-Fire connections:
        AMP
        Dorman Trading
        Mirus
        Pheonix Futures

Just when I thought all my questions were answered...

A disheartening set of charts. Both are 233-tick. One from Zen-Fire the other from PFG dispelling the myth I believed that started this thread. Could this be because the data was not captured live on the Zen-Fire feed? I don't have any other explanation for it.

141 PFG bars from 8:30-9:00 am today
47 Zen-Fire bars from the exact same time

Why is there a 3:1 disparity in numbers of bars?

kocmodpom, it's hard to compare two different tick feeds on two different platforms - have you tried charting the PFG tick data in NinjaTrader and comparing the resulting charts then?

I am still using a free license in NT so I don't think I can run PFG data through NT unless I go live. Is that an incorrect assumption on my part?

                Hi kocmodpom,

                Thank you for your reply.

No, you would be able to display the data from PFG in NinjaTrader using the free version. You would need to configure the connection to PFG and connect in order to display the data.

For instruction on how to configure a connection to PFG, please see the following link: http://www.ninjatrader.com/webnew/support_PFG.htm

                  Hi,

Just as a follow up... I've confirmed (at this point in time at least) both King Commodities and RCG do *not* support Zen-Fire connections.

Correction, RCG does support Zen-Fire through Mirus Futures.

                        You're right.

RCG Direct (and other subdivisions of RCG itself) does not support Zen-Fire. But Mirus does support Zen-Fire, and allows you to clear via either RCG or Dorman.
