    Importing Historical Data Error

    Hello,

    I am trying to import historical data, its a txt file. However, when I try to import it, it says "instrument is not supported by repository". I am using a Zenfire Feed and trying to import a sample data of ES from 06-02.

        Hello,

        What is the error message you get? What does it say in you log file? Post the file and I'll try to import it.

          this is the message i get,

          "instrument is not supported by repository"

          the file was too large to attach, so I posted it on rapidshare. Here is the link.

            Hello,

            When the file came to me it had an underscore in the file name. Remove that and retest it.

              rapidshare adds that, so there is no underscore in actual file. However, I did remove space, and then tried to remove dash but still same error. Instrument is not supported by repository.

                Hello davidwm88,

                Please ensure the instrument is added to your instrument list; ES 06-02.

                Most likely the 06-02 expiry is not available in the Instrument Manager.
                Please close NinjaTrader and change your PC clock and time zone to the year 2002, around June.

                Start NinjaTrader and you should be able to add the ES 06-02 to your instrument list. Once the instrument is added close NinjaTrader. Set your PC clock and time zone back to the correct time.

                Start NinjaTrader and re-import the file and check if the error persists.

                  I'm having exactly the same problem, the error message in the log is identical however I'm importing forex data (EURUSD)...this instrument appears in the Instrument Manager ($EURUSD) so I don't understand what the problem might be? My data appears formatted correctly as well...

                    Burga1, did you try naming your file $EURUSD.txt? If not, please try this, thanks.

                      Thanks, I changed the name and it attempted to load the file. I now get another error, "Date / time format error in line 265. Hour, minute, and second parameters describe an unrepresentable datetime"...here is the line in question, what is wrong with it? It is no different from other lines in the file:

                      20090531 00601;1.4154;1.4154;1.4154;1.4154;0

                      Thanks in advance for input...

                        It seems like your source file misses a character in the time column, 6 digits are expected here - http://www.ninjatrader-support.com/H...V6/Import.html

                          Thanks, if that is the case why did it not error out on the previous lines? For example here are the 5 lines immediately before the line that threw the error:

                          20090531 00001;1.4154;1.4154;1.4154;1.4154;0
                          20090531 00101;1.4154;1.4154;1.4154;1.4154;0
                          20090531 00201;1.4154;1.4154;1.4154;1.4154;0
                          20090531 00301;1.4154;1.4154;1.4154;1.4154;0
                          20090531 00401;1.4154;1.4154;1.4154;1.4154;0
                          20090531 00501;1.4154;1.4154;1.4154;1.4154;0

                          I would have thought that the "early morning hours" wouldn't require the "leading 0"...?

                            Is this hourly data Burga1? Please use 1 min data for the import as outlined in the helpguide section.

                              It is minute data:

                              00101 = 1 minute (and 1 second) past Midnight
                              00201 = 2 minutes past Midnight
                              00301 = 3 minutes past Midnight
                              etc...
