Ninja Freezing

All of a sudden, when I swtich from YM 20 tick chart to ES 20 tick, NT locks up. It never use to take more than few seconds to change over. Now, after several minutes, the program freezez and I have to shut down.

The only things I'm running are two charts and a DOM.

The only recent change that I made was to uncheck "store real time data".

Could that be causing this?

Hello VinnyB,

The 'Store real-time data' option is not related.

I suggest to reduce the historical data in your chart and check if the issue persists.

Since I only have a 5 minute and 20 tick chart up, I should only have to reduce the hist. data for the minute and tick sections right?

I set them to 5 days for minute and two days for tick, that's not really that much data...I think. Anyway, I just switched from YM to ES and it took a full minute. Is that normal?

REAL dumb question coming:

I have an indicator that monitors volume on each incoming tick...that could be it, huh?

Sorry...two follow up dumb and unrelated questions:

1. WORKSPACES - I now have two layouts...one for ES and one for YM.

When I go to file>>>open>>>workspace, they are both there and the one I'm in is checked. My question is...is the unchecked workspace still open and using pc resources? Or is it just in a "quick open" state [if that makes sense].

I'm used to TS and when multiple layouts were open, you could seem them at the bottom. If the answer is yes, it's technically open, than that means I have two doms and 4 charts open at the same time, even though I can't see the other layout, correct? Should I be saving one of these workspaces as the default? Because I also have the default open but there's nothing there other than control panel.

2. INDICATORS: If I have the pivots indicator in one chart for the ES and another for the YM, with different user defined values entered in each, they are chart specific, correct? Again, in TS when you change an indicator, it changed all. In other words, I don't have to rename an NT indicator for specific instrument usage, do I.

Thank you for your post.

1.) The unchecked workspace(s) are open and using resources. You can use Shift + F3 to toggle between these.
-You can create one workspace in default so you only have 2 open.

2.) You do not have to rename the indicator for each new instrument.

Just noticed something else...pretty big...can't believe I didn't see this before.

The charts are not in sync with the DOM. Not only do they lag by at least a tick or two, but they seem to almost skip ticks. It takes a full one second at least for the chart to update with the DOM.

Again, all I have open is one 5 minute and one 20 sec tick.

Tried it with just one 1-minute chart and no indicators as a test and still lags.

Still on the SIM and hoping that's the reason.

If not, what's up?

Can you please double click the chart and check what value is used for 'Display update interval (sec)'. Please set it to zero and check again.

Was set to .50 [default, maybe?] so I tried .25 as a test.

Obviously ZERO is perfect. Hope it's this good live! ;-)
